Samantha Kunemoto

2010 Graduate Scholarship Recipient
University of California | School of Nursing

Samantha received a BS in community health from California State University, Long Beach in 2008. Before enrolling at UCLA, she worked as a certified peer health educator at the Cal State Long Beach Health Resource Center and served as student council representative for the Cal State Long Beach Health Science Student Association.

Samantha was inspired to pursue a career in nursing because of her passion for health promotion and her desire to help improve people’s quality of life, and she has long demonstrated her interest in medicine and health education in both her academic and personal lives. She chose to become a nurse, rather than pursue a medical degree, because she believes the investment of a practitioner’s time and energy is essential for patient care and recovery.

An advocate of health education and primary prevention, Samantha looks forward to continuing her education and helping to address the growing need for health promotion in the field of nursing. A second-year MECN student, she maintains a 3.74 GPA.
