Mina Acevedo

2010 Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient
Loma Linda University | School of Nursing

Mina Acevedo was born and raised in California.  She grew up studying and performing classical piano, and began a career teaching piano performance and theory at the age of fifteen.  Bestowing the love of music in young peoples' lives was a rewarding career, but Mina knew that God had also given her a calling to enter the medical field.  She volunteered at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier which sparked her desire to become a Registered Nurse.

Mina married Aaron, her husband now of twelve years, and had three children.  While raising her children, she pursued her education at Rio Hondo College, Riverside Community College and was accepted at the School of Nursing at Loma Linda University in 2009.  The support from her husband, parents, and family, has enabled Mina to continue toward her goal.

Recently, Mina was selected to work at Loma Linda University Medical Center as a Nurse Extern.  Mina maintains a Dean's List status and is expected to graduate with a BSN from Loma Linda University in 2011.  Future goals include working as a Registered Nurse and continuing her education to obtain a Nurse Practitioner license.

Above all things, Mina thanks God for the opportunity to serve others in her future profession.  She believes God can use her in the lives of her patients to bring compassionate care to the wounded body and soul.
