Megan grew up in the small town of Wrightwood, California where there was one local doctor and one nurse. In high school, Megan enjoyed biology and physics and always pictured herself pursing a career in health care. She was given the opportunity to visit the embryology museum at Loma Linda University, piquing her interest in maternal-fetal health. Still deciding whether to pursue medicine or nursing, Megan observed a home birth with a midwife. The partnership between the patient and the midwife, along with the independence the midwife role provided quickly inspired Megan to pursue nursing.
Megan received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loma Linda University in 2003. she has enjoyed the variety that nursing has to offer by working in: postpartum, labor and delivery, case management, nursing management, and nursing education. She is currently an instructor in the undergraduate department at the Loma Linda University School of nursing where she enjoyed watching students bridge the gap between theory and practice, and provide compassionate care to the local community.
Megan is enrolled in the Loma Linda University School of Nursing’s Master of Science Program with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration. She is actively involved in the Gamma Alpha Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International and volunteers her time with the Association of Student Nurses to support the undergraduate students in coordinating on-campus activities. Her research interests include: gestational diabetes and simulation in nursing education. Megan hopes to work as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a women’s health care setting following her graduation.
