My name is Kenneth Lard and I am a very blessed man who lived and worked in Montana my entire life. Prior to Nursing school, I was a fly fishing guide for twelve years. I also have my Bachelors degree in Education Ministry from Seattle Pacific University. After completing my degree, I was very luck to have the opportunity to aid in the start up of a Non-Profit group in Moshi, Tanzania.
For three years, I traveled to Africa to work with the 115 children sponsored by our Non-Profit. During my time there, the primary purpose of our Non-Profit was to share the Gospel, but I saw a tremendous need for basic health care and it meant a great deal to me to be able to help and treat the people who had malaria, dehydration and infections.
Back home in Seattle and Montana, I had family members who had been hospitalized and while spending time with them I saw what a difference the nurses made in their patients’ lives and in their healing process. It is through these different experiences that I realized what an impact I could have in other people’s lives and how I could help them as a nurse.
